Our Work

Work made to be watched.

What changes

You've built something. You've sacrificed for it. You know your story is worth telling. But somewhere between the board decks, the investor calls, and the next thing — the real story disappears.

A founder documentary isn't a brand video. It's not a testimonial reel. It's the format that does what nothing else can: it makes people feel who you are — before they ever get on a call with you.

01

Investors trust you before the call. They arrive with context. The conversation starts from a completely different place.

02

Clients close faster. They already know your story, your values, and why you started — before you've said a word about scope or price.

03

Your team feels the mission. Not the mission statement — the actual human thing behind the company. New hires watch it on Day 1.

04

You stop re-explaining yourself. Your story exists permanently, consistently, in the most compelling form you've ever told it.

Who this is for

Built for founders with a story that earned its length.

Established Founders

You've built a company over years or decades. The founding story, the pivots, the why behind all of it — it deserves a permanent record that goes deeper than any article or podcast.

Family Businesses in Transition

Generational handoffs are defining moments. A documentary captures what the founder built, what it stood for, and who carried it forward — for the next generation and for the record.

Executives with Multi-Decade Stories

You've led organizations, built industries, or shaped fields. The right film makes that legacy concrete — accessible to boards, partners, and successors who weren't there for the whole journey.

Founders Facing Succession

Before stepping back, step into the camera. The documentary becomes the institutional memory — the values, the decisions, the culture — preserved in a format that outlasts a slide deck.

This is not for: founders who need a quick trust film for a website (that's FounderStoryAustin.com), or an active fundraising film (that's PitchVideoAustin.com). Founder documentaries are 15–45+ minutes. They are built for authority, legacy, and company history — not for quick conversion.

How it works

From conversation to permanent film.

01
Discovery

We start with a 60-minute story conversation — no camera, no agenda. We map the arc: origin, turning points, mission, and what you want to say to the next generation.

02
Pre-Production

We build a story outline, shot plan, and location list. You review and approve before we ever pick up a camera. This is where the film is made, not on shoot day.

03
Production

One to several shoot days depending on package. Cinematic interview setup, B-roll of your world, archival integration where applicable. We work around your schedule.

04
Editorial & Delivery

We cut, score, and color the film. Two rounds of revisions, then final delivery in broadcast-quality files plus all social cuts, press kit assets, and a distribution guide.

FAQ
How long does a founder documentary take to produce?

Most projects take 6–10 weeks from initial story call to final delivery. This includes pre-production story development (2–3 weeks), shoot days, editorial, two rounds of revisions, and final delivery. Complex multi-location projects or those with archival integration may run longer.

Who is this for?

Established founders with multi-year stories, family businesses navigating generational transitions, executives with multi-decade careers, and founders entering succession. This is not a quick marketing tool — it's a permanent record. If you're early-stage or need a 2-minute trust film, FounderStoryAustin.com may be the better fit.

How does a founder documentary differ from a brand film?

A brand film is 2–5 minutes and optimized for quick conversion — it answers "what do you do and why should I care." A founder documentary is 15–45+ minutes. It's cinematic, narrative, and built to answer "who are you really and how did you build this." Brand films are produced in days. Documentaries take weeks. The depth is the point.

What's the investment?

Packages start at $7,500 for a Founder Portrait Documentary (1 day, 15–20 min film) and range to $25,000+ for a Multi-Location Legacy Documentary. Documentary Series are priced at $5,000 per episode. Final scope — shoot days, locations, archival integration — is confirmed on a story call. Apply and we'll respond within 2 business days with a specific proposal.

Can this be used for fundraising?

It can complement a raise — investors who watch your film before a call arrive with context and trust already established. But this format is not optimized as a primary fundraising tool. If you're in an active capital raise and need a focused investor film, see PitchVideoAustin.com. The two work well together.

What do I need to prepare before we shoot?

Pre-production story development runs 2–3 weeks and starts with a story-extraction interview — a structured conversation covering your founding moment, turning points, and what you want the film to accomplish. From there we build a shot list and interview outline. No script-writing or camera experience needed on your side.

Who owns the footage and the final film?

You own the final deliverables outright — broadcast-quality master files, social cuts, and press kit assets. Pantheon also maintains a private, searchable archive of your full raw footage library, so future recaps, anniversary edits, or new social cuts can be produced from the original footage years later without a re-shoot.

Is the interview scripted?

No. Interviews are conversational, not scripted — we use a story-extraction question set to guide the conversation but the answers are yours, unscripted. This is what gives founder documentaries their verité, authentic feel versus a corporate video with rehearsed talking points.

How many shoot days does a founder documentary need?

A single-location Founder Portrait Documentary is typically one shoot day. The Signature Founder Documentary is multi-day to cover interviews, B-roll, and key locations. Multi-Location Legacy Documentaries span several days across locations, often with archival footage integration.

What do we receive at final delivery?

Broadcast-quality master files in your required formats, a full suite of social cuts sized for LinkedIn, Instagram, and YouTube, press kit assets (stills, quotes, b-roll), and a distribution guide covering where and how to release the film for maximum reach.

How is a founder documentary different from a memoir or biography?

A memoir is text, written and read privately over hours. A founder documentary is a 15–45 minute film built for shared, public viewing — at a company event, on a website, in an investor deck, or as a press asset. Both can draw on the same source material, but the documentary trades the memoir's depth for a format built to be watched, shared, and cited.

Comparison

Founder documentary vs. other formats.

Founder Documentary
15–45+ minutes. Cinematic, narrative, built to answer who you are and how you built it. Weeks in production. A permanent asset for authority, legacy, and succession.
Brand Film
2–5 minutes. Optimized for fast conversion — what you do and why to care. Produced in days. See BrandFilmAustin.com.
Investor Pitch Film
3–8 minutes. Built for an active capital raise — focused on traction, market, and the ask. See PitchVideoAustin.com.
Memoir / Biography
Text, read privately over hours. Deeper than any film can go, but not built for shared viewing at an event, on a website, or in a press kit.
PR / Press Feature
Third-party written coverage, subject to an editor's angle and news cycle. A documentary is fully owned, cinematic, and permanent regardless of press cycles.
Glossary

Terms you'll hear during production.

B-roll

Supplementary footage — locations, hands, process shots — cut around the interview to keep the film visually alive.

Verité

Documentary style built on unscripted, observed moments rather than staged or rehearsed scenes.

Sizzle reel

A short (60–90s) highlight cut used to promote the full documentary on social or in an email.

Story arc

The narrative shape of the film — founding moment, struggle, turning point, resolution — mapped during pre-production.

Archival integration

Weaving in old photos, home video, or company footage alongside new production to show the full history.

Color grade

The final pass that sets the film's tone and mood through color and contrast — the last step before delivery.

Social cuts

Shorter, platform-sized edits of the main film (square, vertical, 60s, 15s) delivered alongside the master.

Master file

The final, highest-quality broadcast delivery file — the source all other cuts and future edits are made from.
